Transportation Guide for Individual Participants

How to get to Conference Venue

For those arriving at the venue individually, please refer to the transportation guide below. It includes directions, public transport options, and estimated travel times.

A) Gimhae Airport (PUS) to HICO, Gyeongju

1. By Taxi

There is no direct transportation to HICO, so taking a taxi is highly recommended—especially for first-time visitors.
The ride takes about 80 minutes by taxi
(approximate fare: ₩100,000–110,000 / ~$100).
  • FYI. Korea's Deluxe Taxis (commonly known as "Mobeom Taxi") are premium cabs known for their courteous drivers and high-quality service. They are usually black sedans with a yellow "Deluxe Taxi" sign on top, making them easy to distinguish from standard taxis. Fares are about 20–30

2. By Intercity Bus

Taking an intercity bus from Gimhae Airport to Gyeongju is the most practical option
  • Bus stop location: Gate 4 of the International Terminal
  • Interval: approximately every hour between 07:20 (first) and 22:00 (last)
  • Fare: ₩9,500 ($8)
  • From Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal, it takes about 15 minutes by taxi to reach HICO (approximate fare: ₩10,000–15,000 / ~$10).

B) Incheon Airport (ICN) to HICO

There is no direct public transportation connecting Incheon International Airport and HICO in Gyeongju. Therefore, we recommend the following two most convenient transportation options to reach HICO.

1. Take the AREX train to Seoul Station, then transfer to a KTX train Bound for HICO, Gyeongju
(Total travel time: approximately 3 hr 20 min)

  1. Step1. Incheon Airport to Seoul Station via Airport Railroad Express Trains (AREX)
    Interval: approximately every 40 minutes (05:15–22:40)
    Fare: ₩13,000 (approx $10)
    Travel time: 43 min (Terminal 1) / 51 min (Terminal 2)
  2. Step2. Seoul Station to Gyeongju Station Via KTX (Korean Train Express)
    Interval: approximately every hour (05:13–21:33)
    Fare: ₩49,300 (approx $40) for Standard Class
    Travel time: about 2 hours
    Reservation: KORAIL (KTX) booking
    FYI: KTX First Class offers wider seats, extra legroom, and on some routes complimentary water/snacks. Fares are approximately 1.4× higher than Standard Class.
  3. Step3. Gyeongju Train Station To HICO, Gyeongju
    Pickup location: main taxi stand in front of Gyeongju Station
    Fare: ₩27,000–35,000 (approx $20–30)
    Travel time: 25–30 min

2. Take Express Bus From Incheon International Airport to HICO, Gyeongju
(Total travel time: approximately 5 hr 30 min – 6 hr)

  1. Step1. Incheon International Airport → Gyeongju (Intercity Express Bus)

    Departure location:
    • Terminal 1: Ticket Office (B1 / 1F), Boarding Gate: 1F, Gate 11
    • Terminal 2: Transportation Center (B1), Boarding Gate: B1, Gate 10

    Bus type: Intercity Express Bus (Direct)
    Interval: Approximately 6–8 departures per day (schedule varies by season)
    Fare: ₩45,000–50,000 (approx $35–40)
    Travel time: Approximately 4 hr 30 min – 5 hr

    Reservation:
    • On-site ticket counters or kiosks at Incheon Airport
    • Online advance booking: Bustago or Intercity Bus (T-money) (Korean/English available)

    FYI: Most buses are deluxe or premium class, equipped with reclining seats, air conditioning, and onboard luggage storage.
  2. Step 2. Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal → HICO (Taxi)
    Pickup location: Taxi stand directly outside Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal
    Destination: HICO (Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Center)
    Fare: ₩15,000–20,000 (approx $12–15)
    Travel time: 15–20 min
